CAMPUS MINISTRY

WHO ARE WE?

Campus Ministry at UPH-Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Medical University strives for nurturing the spiritual and moral growth of the  entire community which focuses on the cross spirituality, with its paradigm Catholic in doctrine, Christian in living, Filipino in character and Perpetualite in virtues. It plans and develops activities that build life-giving relationships. Pastoral events with Campus Ministry encourage students and employees to come together and build friendships with people of varying backgrounds, interests and religions.

WHAT DO WE DO?

The three components of the Office of Campus Ministry are:

WORSHIP

The first program necessary for campus ministry is the liturgical services. All the members of the Perpetualite family are invited to join the Eucharistic celebration every day at 12:00 noon within the campus and via live stream in UPHS-Religious Institute Fb page. Mass of the Holy Spirit and Baccalaureate Mass are held every year. Penitential service/confession is held before the Mass and during recollections and retreats as well as in Advent and Lenten seasons. Marian and other devotional practices are religiously observed like praying the holy rosary, angelus, 3 o’clock prayer to the Divine Mercy, and novena to our Mother of Perpetual Help.

EDUCATION/EVANGELIZATION

This program initiates activities like students’ education on pro-life and love for creation. It also organizes annual recollections and retreats both for students and employees. Life in the Spirit seminar is held as scheduled as well as spiritual conference, seminars and talks with collaboration to other departments and colleges. Christian leadership trainings are done within the Filipino Christian Living subjects to strengthen the determination to follow the examples of Jesus as a servant-leader.

SERVICE

This function provides opportunities to train students and employees to serve during liturgical celebrations (altar servers, lectors/commentators, choir and other ministries). Outreaches like community, jail and hospital visitations are done in collaboration with the different departments and colleges. The campus minister/FCL teachers are available for spiritual counselling. If there is a need for disaster relief operations, the program gives services to the affected families and individuals in collaboration, coordination and cooperation with other departments.

GENERAL FUNCTION

The Campus Ministry supports and nourishes the life in the Spirit of members of the school community by initiating and facilitating spiritual activities. This leads the students into the mysteries of life and provides an ideal community of faith, a safe place to open-up and grow in relationship with God no matter what religion they are in.
