What is Radiologic Technology?
Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology (BSRadTech) is a four year degree program designed to train students how to operate medical imaging equipment such as X-rays, CT scanners, MRIs, sonogram machines, and 3D medical imaging programs among other computer and web-based software programs. Students are also taught how to perform associated clerical duties, including scheduling and maintaining paperwork for office and clinical machinery.
Radiological technologists, or radiographers, produce images of internal organs and bones in the human body. Coursework in this field includes training in the equipment used for radiology, and students are also introduced to issues regarding patient care, anatomy, medical terminology and regulations relevant to radiological technologists.
Here are some common concepts examined in radiological technology courses:
The Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology program aims to provide quality instruction on Radiography, Radiation Therapy, and patient care. Through intensive research, clinical rotations in the university’s own tertiary teaching and training hospital, and hands-on practice with leading-edge Radiologic Technology such as X-ray machines, CT scanners, MRI machines, sonogram machines, gamma camera, and 3D medical imaging programs, students master the skills on how to use medical imaging to diagnose patients and help in treatment using radiant energies.
While performing these duties, students also learn how to maintain their own and their patient’s safety. They are trained on how to archive x-ray films and apply health laws related to medical imaging. Lastly, they are taught how to perform associated clerical duties, including scheduling and maintaining paperwork for office and clinical machinery.
